In all film appearances, Simba's adult speaking voice is provided by Matthew Broderick, with Joseph Williams providing his singing voice in the first film, and Cam Clarke in the second. Cam Clarke also provides his speaking voice in "Timon and Pumbaa", a TV spinoff. His juvenile voice is done by Jonathan Taylor Thomas (speaking) and Jason Weaver (singing) in the first film, and Matt Weinberg in the third.
He is inspired by the William Shakespeare character, Hamlet as well as Osamu Tezuka's anime, Kimba the White Lion.
As a cub, Simba was always excited and tempted. After Mufasa died, Simba ran away and lived with Timon and Pumbaa. Together they enjoyed fun, bugs and burping. Simba killed Scar for murdering Mufasa and becomes king as he and Nala have Kiara. Pumbaa says the best burper is Simba.
In the Lion King 1 1/2, Timon challenges Simba to a snail slurping contest which Simba wins easily. When he eats his final snail, Simba lets out a burp. Simbas's burp sounds like a lion roar meaning when some lions belch, they sound like roars.
